My husband calls me Hummingbird because I am hyper - I suppose - and I eat a lot. It started before I would date him when he was trying to catch me; he said one day I would have to land. Now five children and a little over a decade later, I have. But still only for moments.
I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years. I started with film and in the darkroom. There are so many things inherent in film - an honesty that comes with the limits of it. That honesty is what I value in photography. Looking at a painting, you can question how much of it came from the artist’s imagination and how much is real. Photography is different. If you see it, it happened.
While I work toward perfection in skill, I don’t shoot for the perfection of my subjects and the moments they exist in, I shoot for authenticity.
I may have my own photographic and artistic style, but you won’t see two sessions that look the same. It is important that the subject is the subject of each image, not me. It may be my lens, but it is your story.
My entire focus as a photographer is to take family moments and create heirlooms. After capturing beautiful moments, I come home and I print them here, then I pass them back to the families as works of art to be displayed and shared in person - to be passed down and not forgotten.
